Obama wants government run health care, but even he admits that government run programs don’t work?
Isn’t it incredible that to try to get people excited a “public option” Obama told America that government run “business” doesn’t work.
On the 11th of August in his so-called “town hall meeting” on health care he said “UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.”
The best part was that he was trying to show WHY the government SHOULD be involved in health care.
Id the man really clueless?

Chet: YES I do pay for my health insurance. And I am one of the people that Obama calls “rich.”
Perhaps it is time you wake up and smell the socialism that this totalitarian regime is trying to ram down our throats
Rob: What would you consider the public option to be if not government run health care. The government will be issuing an “insurance policy” paid for by taxation, and then a government agency would choose how care is rationed. That would be government run health care.
Induced: Medicaid and Medicare don’t work and both are essentially bankrupt. Obviously you don’t work in the health care field (as most of my family does) or you would know that
Karmel: Typical liberal response. Never mind the facts, just pretend that the truth isn’t out there. While you keep drinking Obama’s bathwater he is bankrupting our fantastic fantastic grand children
PJ: Where in the Constitution is “health care” guaranteed
Tribeca: You’re right — they like their care, but they aren’t offering the rest of us ANYTHING REMOTELY SIMILAR to what they have. Perhaps you should read the bill

Well here’s a link to governmental employee health care.

Let’s get the same as they have.
Clueless? No – Obama should stand up and say enough is enough. Let’s get it done.
Enough with obstructionists, fallacies, lies, and for-huge-profit insurance companies.
Meanwhile, we have 30 days after the due date to pay each month’s premium to the insurance companies. Pay as close to the end of the grace period of 30 days as possible…………see what happens then.
President Obama has never proposed government run health care.
Yeah; neither does the current system of monstrous insurance companies valuing dollar signs over human life.
So, you’re also saying the US military doesn’t work? They’re a government run program.
First of all….Bloomberg is a right-wing, partisan paper that I wouldn’t trust with the weather forecast. And secondly, a “public option” is NOT “government run healthcare” and the two are not in conflict.
Please, educate yourself. Knowledge doesn’t hurt…I promise.
obama is incompetent.everyone with something above the brain stem knows this.

He was consulted that this was a excellent thought from his adviser, axelrod. Who happened to sell his ad company to his son, the same ad company that promotes Obama’s health care plot.
Yes, he is clueless at best.
Really, the PO may not work perfectly because Americans want home delivery of mail and that’s what the PO is charged with providing. But, many government services work well — our currency is trusted, our airways are safe, are food and drugs are safe, our water is clean, our military is strong, and there’s social security, medicare, the court system, the interstate highway system, etc. Obama’s point was that the private sector should play a role in health care, but not the only role.
He was explaining that the Public Option would NOT drive private insurance companies out of business. Just as the USPS has NOT driven Fedex or UPS out of business. He never said that government run programs don’t work.
Public Education is a government run program. Social Security is a government run program, Medicare is a government run program. The US Military is a government run program. Most Americans want to see all these programs continue. I guess Republicans are anti-military and anti-medicare and anti-social security and anti-public education.
Hey you are from Kansas! Shocking. Do you pay for you own insurance? Thought not.
He isn’t for govt. run heath care.
We need health insurance reform.
If the huge insurance companies are unwilling to do it – then the government has to get involved.
He is clueless. he is trying to go backwards, UPS and FedEx rose up because the Government run Post office is so inefficient, They do not compete with the government and the only reason the post office is still functioning is because of our tax dollars and junk mail. Maybe he is hoping that after running the insurance companies out of business, and the government plot is the only one around, that new insurance companies will come in and make a better system.
Medicaid and Medicare work just fine for the Conservatives and the Limbaugh listeners.
Remember that Obama, Congress and federal employees all have government-run health care coverage and they like it.
You are deliberately misinterpreting what he said. In response to a concern that the government option would place the private insurers out of business, Obama used the example of the post office. His point was that the best competitor would come out ahead even if one entity was a government entity.
What about that can’t you know?
our government is notorious for inefficient and over budget programs. The postal service is doing poorly even though they have a monopoly on mail delivery. The others survive off of parcels.
Social security and medicaid are bankrupt. I will still be paying into a system that I will never get a dime back out of even though it is bankrupt.
We do have the best military in the world BUT it is also notorious for being inefficient and always over budget. It is also comprised of willing volunteers.
Our government has ruined every major “social program” they have tried (and failed) to run. I am not willing to give them a chance with my health care. This plot will place a lot of private insurance out of business and the companies left standing will be very expensive. They will cater to the social elite while the rest of us get the scraps that are left over.
Uh, Obama has NEVER said that ALL government-run programs don’t work.
His point at the time was that it’s also a lie that having a government-run program eliminates competing companies. He was simply incorrect to say “always” — most of the time, the Postal service has done VERY well. Mail gets picked up, and then quickly delivered to the right place, for pennies.
That technology and the current economic crisis has made it have to scramble to make cuts has nothing to do with anything.
I’ve noticed that people who lack brain are really terrible judges of other people’s intelligence. No one who has a brain considers Obama clueless. He’s obviously very well clued indeed.
????? Uh it’s totalitarian for someone elected by a majority to do what he promised to do? To do the things the majority HIRED him to do? That makes no sense.
We who live in the real world know that Obama believes in capitalism, not socialism. He just doesn’t believe in capitalism that allows companies to murder or steal or commit other crimes. And he believes that people who are either under-paid or can’t find jobs (since there are never enough jobs for everyone to have them) shouldn’t starve to death in the streets, or suffer or die of treatable medical problems.
There is no proposal being considered that has the government running the entire health care industry.
Rationed? Currently, insurance companies make massive profits by collecting premiums, then refusing to pay for care. Making that no longer the case isn’t rationing; it’s making more and better care available to more people.
I guess you just like to see people, mostly children, suffer and die of treatable conditions because they don’t have tens of thousands of dollars lying around. Not to mention all the familes made homeless due to medical costs. We who are HUMAN do NOT like seeing these things.
Medicaid and Medicare have worked very well. Bush made sure they cost tax-payers and patients pay a LOT more, for reduced coverage. Obama intends to reduce costs and improve treatment, so they work better than ever.
It’s Reagan and Bush who’ve been bankrupting everyone’s grandchildren; Obama is trying to reverse that. Without reform, every family, business, and the government itself will be entirely bankrupt in a few decades.
To quote Obama, “He’s out of touch”
