I’m all for exercise; it is crucial for overall health. But for a book called ‘The Abs Diet’ — this book is sorely lacking. There is one scanty chapter on eating. Research shows that weight loss is about 80% about eating better and 20% exercise. So I reckon this book needed a lot more information on the diet aspect.
It is, but, a excellent bible of different abs exercises. But even the exercise part is lacking. The ab exercises are fantastic. But the cardio recommendation is less stellar; it relies on interval training, which may be too intense for those starting out. It only requires one or two days a week of cardio – maybe enough to help you lose weight, when combined with muscle gained, but not enough to improve your overall cardiovasculat health.
Furthermore, it really avoids the subject of flexibilty trainging, which is odd, because the magazine usually doesn’t. Stretching and flexibilty training are vital to your long-term health, too, and this book doesn’t acknowledge that at all.
Overall, there are much better books out there for someone who wants to really get healthy. And that’s not even mentioning the horrid writing ’style’, which is to make every other sentence a comparison to some sort of pop culture icon or interest of the moment. This book will sound so incredibly dated three years from now that it is ridiculous – like it was plotted to be obsolete. Buy this one somewhere on sale when it isn’t the ‘in’ thing anymore, for the ab exercises.

The Abs Diet is the most comprehensive reference resource that I’ve found on the market. The author, David Zinczenko, has laid out an extensive, simple to follow, exercise and diet program that helps take the guess work out of developing an effective exercise program. In addition, the author use of down to earth terms and explanations that help the reader know the right ways to perform each exercise and its overall effect and effect on the anatomy. If you are just beginning or and experienced athlete, I recommend you consider adding this book to your fitness library.

Has some fantastic tips on how to get started. My only concern is really that they don’t seem to give a whole lot details on exercises and how they should be properly done. But other wise a fantastic book if you want to get in shape in about 6 weeks.

I’ve been looking for a workout program that doesn’t have me in the gym for 2-3 hour a pop. It’s not only an exercise book, but it’s a body improvement program. It compelled me to buy 2 other ABS DIET books. Get on the ABS DIET boat…don’t get left behind.

This book is a comprehensive one-stop-shop for strength exercises that is a fantastic for anyone in any program, beginner or expert. I loved the wide variety in the number and type of exercises to choose from. I will never be bored doing strength training ever again! Color pictures showing examples of the exercise are simple to follow whether working out at home or at the gym.
I travel a lot for work and found the 2 circuts: one using only body weight and the other using bands to be very helpful to stick with my exercise program even in the hotel.
I have most of the books in the Abs Diet series. Other than the original, I reckon this is the most worthwhile.
