It’s simple.. to do things that they want to do. That includes everything :P

It’s right because men are different than women. Most men dont have any goal in life not like women..

I reckon I’d have to place honesty and compassion first, then intellect..once those are in place I reckon all the rest will just follow suit.

To build a 6 lane motorway across the Atlantic. (It was either that or understanding women, but we all know which is more reallistically acheivable.)

The ultimate goal in life varies from man to man, no one goal is universal. Get out of life what you want to, not what others want you to.

RECKON FOR YOURSELF ACT FOR YOURSELF.

It should be to be pleased and make others pleased as well. And also to make the world a better place than it is now.

One psychologist studied “human needs” under the humanistic perspective. Under influence of phenomenological trend and existentialism at the time, Maslow regarded humans to be too complex to be deterministic in terms of what their ultimate goal is. He then invented “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs”, which is shaped like a pyramid, divided into horizontal sections of levels from primary human needs (at the bottom of the pyramid) to the eventual human needs (at the top of the pyramid). The primary human needs are “needs for basic human functions” (i.e. search for food, water, etc). Then comes safety, and so forth. The top of Maslow’s pyramid is called the level of “self-actualisation” which reflects the individual’s attainment of innovative creativity through motivation. People who have reached “self-actualisation” include people like Jesus, Buddha, Steven Spielburg and possibly you. But, this high-level can only be achieved once you met all the “needs” of the lower levels of the pyramid. Maslow’s theory has proved itself applicable for many instances, for example business. For more information, just type in Google “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs”.

So conclusively, I believe that a man’s ultimate goal is nothing specific, but meeting all the basic needs and being satisfied with your current position. This may vary among individuals, because everyone have their own preferences for things like “fun”, or “obsessive”, etc. But, if I was to name variables that you mentioned, that may go under the category of “self-actualisation”, it would be “happiness” and “peace of mind”.

That is a man’s ULTIMATE GOAL.

    I rest my case.

I reckon there are so many things a man should strive to achieve:

Respect for women, professionalism, and wisdom are some vital examples, I reckon.

  25. guppy on: 8 May 2010 at 7:12 pm

to explore the universe… to go where no person has gone before, you know, space! the final frontier!

I rather like a version of Aristotle’s answer to this question, which would be to fulfill his potential as much as possible. Be all that you can be, as it were.

I also concur with Nietzsche’s addendums to that thought. PART of your potential is to INCREASE your potential. As such, if you ever do manage live out your capabilities, your next task is to become MORE capable!

Whatever he chooses- who is anyone here to tell anyone what they should be aiming for?
